## In the destroyed present, the aggressively badass Keikei (Xinkun Dai) and her lackadaisical white-shirted pal Rev (Ging Yu Kei) wander the wasteland looking for their friend Spike (Matias Rittatore), in between running into the confrontational Lady Moondrift (Pei Yao Xu) and her Candy Ass Kickers (They kick candy ass!!!), or the deadly Psycho on The Radio - whose kill count is like into the 900s - with the promise that one day, they'll get all the answers to their problems from the Embodiment of Angst.

"Writer/Director Terry Chiu's an open book. His fears, anxiety, humour and personality are splattered all over the epic 3-hour running time of OPEN DOOM CRESCENDO, but the greatest trick he pulls is balancing it all like a circus acrobat juggling ten chainsaws dipped in battery acid.

This isn't merely stream-of-consciousness madness, or wackiness for the sake of it, but a well-thought-out (Every line is carefully scripted) piece that is also hilariously funny. Terry's base style is ADULT SWIM meets SHINYA TSUKAMOTO, but he knows when to slow things down, to engross the viewer in his characters' twisty philosophical musings, brilliantly clarified by Burnt-In Chinese/English subtitles, and a narrative gambit straight out of END OF EVANGELION, that puts the endeavour in a different emotional context, before the audience is bodyslammed with a climax worthy of a quadrillion dollar blockbuster (but with more cardboard). You may not get all the answers on the first viewing, but that's part of the design.

The piece takes its title from iTMRW, the mega-corporation that produces and sells every single product known to man. Despite societal chaos, the human spirit persists in its quest for love.

Acropolis Cinema presents *Fast*, by Rob Tregenza. A slow film about a fast subject.

Rob Tregenza has worked at the leading edge of American independent cinema since his 1988 debut *Talking to Strangers*, a film built entirely from extended single-take sequences shot in nine locations across the city of Baltimore. His subsequent films—including *Inside/Out* (1997), *Gavagai* (2016), and *The Fishing Place* (2024)—constitute a body of work defined less by narrative than by the physical weight of recorded reality. Largely self-financed and operating outside the festival-circuit economy, he remains one of the few American filmmakers whose practice has more in common with Straub-Huillet or Chantal Akerman than with anything produced in the American independent mainstream.

Tregenza’s sixth feature returns to the American South—shot on location in Lexington and Richmond, Virginia—after his Norwegian excursions in *Gavagai* and *The Fishing Place*. Says Tregenza: “For Sterling (Madison Pankey), a sort of present day Alice, the graveyard Lotus she redeems becomes a totem, a saturated phenomenon permitting her to move freely in time on a phantom road. It is a sort of Ford but never a DeLorean. A Southern woman with a fair deal of historical baggage and deep secrets, Sterling journeys back to her rural home, the Lotus takes her through the shadow of the valley into the adjoining worlds of the living and the dead. Among the most distinctive American debuts of the 1980s, maverick independent filmmaker Rob Tregenza’s haunting, formally audacious feature—beloved by Jean-Luc Godard and Jonathan Rosenbaum, yet never available on home video—now appears in a beautiful restoration.

Known for its elaborate structural gambit, Tregenza’s film is made up of nine scenes, each filmed in a single eleven-minute take in various locations in Baltimore, with elaborately choreographed camera movements and an intricately calculated mise-en-scene. We watch an aspiring, somewhat unstable writer (Ken Gruz) meets a series of strangers, with whom he is confronted with probing questions about life, religion, ethics, art and love. Perhaps infamously, the film’s sequence order was randomized by Tregenza, save for the first and last scenes—and yet “the possibility of accident and error hovers over every moment suspensefully, as in a jazz improvisation” (Rosenbaum). A radical achievement of film style, we are thrilled to present Tregenza’s film to a new audience.

30 years before *Napoleon Dynamite*, this BYU-sponsored &#8220;comedy&#8221; follows an awkward teenage boy with Art Garfunkle&#8217;s hairstylist and a penchant for karate and bassoons as he works up the courage to ask his crush for a date.  The Mormons want you to know that nice guys can finish first! An audience favorite starring Marc McClure (Jimmy Olson from the Christopher Reeves *Superman* series).

A goofy sex education classic with two groovy teens from the mid-seventies. Judy is a regular 15 year old girl going through what every woman goes through at some point, her first monthly visitor. Her 16 year old boyfriend hasn&#8217;t got a clue, and quite frankly she doesn&#8217;t really either. Thankfully there&#8217;s an obnoxious cartoon to explain it all to them! If that doesn&#8217;t work, maybe the menstruation game show will hammer home the facts. Also featuring actor Jonathan Banks from *Breaking Bad*.
