James Benning’s mesmerizing new film spans decades of U.S. history with simple and seemingly minor gestures. Foregrounding its own structural form, *Little Boy* shows us a series of prefabricated toy models being painted in close-up, accompanied by the rallying cries of folk and pop standards, followed by images of the models’ final construction overlaid with passages of political oratory, from voices inspiring or nefarious. The cumulative image is one of a society doomed to cycles of domestic decline and implicated in international terror in the name of “peace-making” interventionism. A companion piece to *American Dreams: Lost and Found*, Benning’s 1984 film composed entirely of baseball card memorabilia, *Little Boy*—its title recalling the lyrics from Pete Seeger’s “What Did You Learn in School Today?”—is an American epic in miniature.

*Stepney Western* is an experimental documentary by Harry Lawson, made in collaboration with a group of young inner-city horse riders from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Recasting their neighbourhood as the Wild West, the film sits at the porous boundary between fact and fiction, combining recontextualised iPhone clips shot by the riders and archival material with Lawson’s own footage. It is loosely centred on their Alternative Provision programme — a unique alternative for young people in England who struggle in mainstream education settings. 

*In With Both Feet* is a unique oral history of the stables, written by Kathryn Scanlan in response to the film. The audience will listen to a recording of Scanlan’s piece, read by Paula Archer, one of the founders of Stepney Bank Stables. What emerges is a kind of collective portrait, made up of edited fragments of speech from Lawson’s rushes.

The screening and reading will be followed by a conversation between Lawson and Scanlan.

Praised for her moving and emotive onscreen presence, Ruan’s private life, which was frequent fodder for the vicious Shanghai tabloids, began to mirror the melodramas which brought her fame, culminating in her suicide at age 24. Kwan and Cheung paint a kaleidoscopic yet intimate portrait of the ill-fated actress, deftly blending lush period drama, archival footage and metatextual documentary sequences of Cheung reflecting on Ruan’s legacy. Director Koji Shiraishi defined what true fear was with his entry into the found-footage-documentary scene with NOROI and he comes back this year with this new entry that is designed with a single purpose in mind: to terrify the audience beyond belief and then some. An East Indian gets lost on his first day in New York as two teenage punks find him waiting at a lonely bus stop. He cannot understand English, and the boys have some fun with him - at least it starts out as fun. But little by little, as the minutes go by and the bus doesn't come, they get bored; then annoyed, then vicious.

The play premiered in 1966 at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut. In 1968 it then transferred to The Astor Place Theatre in New York City. The play was the start of an amazing career for Al Pacino. He went on to win an Obie Award for his work in the role of Murph for _The Indian Wants The Bronx_.

Beyond Fest 2026 Q&A with filmmaker Sung Kang and cast and crew U.S. Premiere

DRIFTER

Director and co-writer David Wain joins us in person for the premiere of the year: the world theatrical debut of the *Wet Hot American Summer* Fart Cut.

After an unfairly underseen limited initial release, *Wet Hot American Summer *would first find the adoring audience it deserved when it was issued on DVD in the winter of 2002.

Deep within the menus of that quintessential disc, a one-of-a-kind special feature was waiting to be discovered. 

It was&#8230; a Fart Track.

An alternate audio track playing alongside the movie featuring live recorded farts, **simulated** by Wain, co-writer/star Michael Showalter, and (“maybe”) co-star Zak Orth. Like the film, the track has a fervent following who until tonight have never had a chance to convene and relive their favorite farts.

Much has thankfully been done to celebrate the 25th anniversary of *Wet Hot American Summer. *But on this day, Hollywood Entertainment is proud to be the first to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the *Wet Hot American Summer *Fart Cut live and in surround sound.
